What exactly is graphology?

Graphology is the study of handwriting to understand personality traits, behavioural patterns, and psychological tendencies. It's based on the principle that handwriting is "brainwriting"—the unique way your brain expresses itself through your hand. Every element of your writing (pressure, size, slant, spacing) reveals aspects of your personality.

Is graphology scientifically proven?

Graphology is practised widely but isn't universally accepted in mainstream psychology. Research shows mixed results. We present it as a complementary tool for self-understanding and development, not a diagnostic medical tool. Many clients find it valuable regardless of the academic debate.

What's the difference between graphology and graphotherapy?

Graphology is analysis—understanding what your handwriting reveals about you. Graphotherapy is intervention—deliberately modifying handwriting patterns to influence thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Think of it as analysis vs action.

What age should my child be?

We work with children aged 5-16. Typically Year 1 onwards (when they're beginning to form letters). Teenagers preparing for GCSEs benefit from handwriting improvement.

How long until we see improvement?

Most children show noticeable improvement within 2 weeks of daily tasks. Transformation typically takes 1 month. Progress depends on practice consistency, age, and starting point. We provide regular progress updates.

Will my child need to practise at home?

Yes, daily practice (15-20 minutes) is essential for progress. We provide fun, engaging exercises that don't feel like extra homework. Most children enjoy them once they see their handwriting improving!

How long does graphotherapy take to work?

Handwriting changes appear within 2-3 weeks of daily practice. Psychological/behavioural changes typically emerge after 6-8 weeks as new neural pathways form. The 10-15 minute daily practice is crucial—consistency matters more than duration.

Can graphotherapy replace therapy or medication?

Absolutely not. Graphotherapy is complementary, not a replacement for medical or mental health treatment. If you're under NHS care or seeing a therapist, please continue. We work alongside professional care, never instead of it.

Do sessions have to be online?

Most sessions are online via Zoom, making them accessible globally. In-person sessions may be available in Amersham, UK and surrounding areas—please enquire. Online sessions work brilliantly and many clients prefer the convenience.
